The wedding could not have been more perfect. There were 82 guests in total and the clouds stayed over the outdoor ceremony just long enough to keep us from all getting scorched by the desert sun. Tons of dancing and I didn't mess up my toast (too much, anyway). It was the start of the knockout round and both of my teams lost on Saturday. Waaah-waahh... I possibly shouldn't support any more teams because England and Mexico both lost today, too. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but it ended up being a great night. There were DJ's and performances throughout the night at the Shrine, a pretty huge venue on USC's campus. There were live art acts, standing galleries, costumes, performers on stilts, sculptures, a "free hug" booth, interactive exhibits, among others.<br /><br />This was one of the most unique ideas, although I probably have a list of 30 unique ideas from the fest. He has been working at a high school near downtown LA for a while now, but I didn't realize how close it really was. The school itself is brand new (sidenote: it's where they film the Jonas Brothers show) and has a great view of the skyline. After chatting with one of his students and getting a personal tour of campus, we walked a few blocks uphill, to the Disney Concert Hall.<br /><br />The hall was designed by Frank Gehry, of Bilbao's Guggenheim and Chicago's Jay Pritzker Pavilian (Millenium Park), and is truly a marvel to look at. The curves of the building fit together so well and I hear the acoustics in hall are insanely crisp and clean (I have yet to attend a concert).<br /><br />There's a public park area adjacent to the building that we spent time exploring and taking plenty of pictures. There are a couple more shots of the building and Alex in my <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4378567484/in/photostream/" target="_blank">photostream</a>.</span></div>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-77960312128344431072010-02-11T12:34:00.000-08:002010-03-02T12:34:49.681-08:0042 hello hearts<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4353252646/"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4072/4353252646_9c3966a45a.jpg" /></a><br /></div><div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">I hadn't eaten these in years. It's at Lucky Strike in downtown LA's new nighttime area, LA Live. The lights are kept low, leather couches replace plastic chairs, drinks are on special, and loud club music adds an extra obstacle to your perfect game. But, tonight was practice. I trotted over to Alhambra to meet half the team, enjoy some 2 dollar games and Newcastles. I love this bulldog's coat and check out how ugly/cute she is drinking water.</span></div>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-89868059918137028032010-01-28T20:55:00.000-08:002010-02-16T14:56:35.791-08:0028 sing your heart out<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4313573774/"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4313573774_c66e81a7d9.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4313573774/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sing your heart out</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">, originally uploaded by </span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/sulalala/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sulalala</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">.</span></span></div><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">I went to meet Emily, a friend from UCSB I met during Costa Rica study abroad, her husband, and a few friends at Cafe Muse in West Hollywood tonight. If you go, try the reuben (vegetarian turkey, sauerkraut, vegan cheddar cheese on pumpernickel) with sweet potato fries.</span></p>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-50389264232423063452010-01-27T17:06:00.000-08:002010-02-11T14:20:32.075-08:0027 sweet smile<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4313573024/"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4031/4313573024_bda12a47e0.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4313573024/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sweet smile</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">, originally uploaded by </span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/sulalala/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sulalala</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">.</span></span></div><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Vegan bakery? Yes, please. My body does not tolerate the lactose. Not one bit. So, when I hear about vegan places to eat, I get excited, especially when it's something as delicious as baked goods. This was taken in front of babycakes, nyc, a new vegan bakery in Downtown L.A. I had a cookie sandwich and Gigi had a brownie cupcake with chocolate chips on top. Vegan, but they might just add crack to make it taste so good.</span></p>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-30762497842190737042010-01-23T21:00:00.000-08:002010-02-11T13:48:26.953-08:0023 inked<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4302058061/"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2768/4302058061_5145c7f98e.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4302058061/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">inked</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">, originally uploaded by </span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/sulalala/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sulalala</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">.</span></span></div><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Happy Birthday, let's all get tattoos. While in the beginning, it was exciting to write about each of my photos, replay the day's events, and tell a bit about the shot, I have realized that some days just aren't that great. In fact, they're boring. Sometimes I'll take a shot and have nothing to write, so don't be surprised if you see a day skipped. It's because my life and photo is not exciting enough (at least on that day) to write about. Plus, I get lazy. I'll still be posting the photos to <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/sets/72157623135293844/" target="_blank">my flickr set</a>. If you really want to know what the photo was all about, write me and tell me to blog it. Thank you.</span>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-71251037023397583682010-01-20T19:00:00.000-08:002010-02-11T13:39:18.267-08:0020 urban gladiators<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4294457095/"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4294457095_01903cbcd4.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4294457095/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">urban gladiators</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">, originally uploaded by </span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/sulalala/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sulalala</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">.</span></span></div><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Another rainy day in l.a. but we made the most of it. I had never been there before so it was pretty exciting. I spent some time trying to get a good shot of the lit Coliseum sign with Olympic rings, but found these shots of the gladiators to come out much better.<br /><br />It was dark, cold, and rainy, making 20 minutes of shooting seem like hours. So dark, in fact, that I couldn't even see the palm trees when I took this shot. I only noticed them once I viewed it on my computer. Damn, them gladiators is ripped.</span></p>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-71368256242649056382010-01-17T15:09:00.000-08:002010-02-11T13:26:09.758-08:0017 Two Wheels<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4284163840/"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2762/4284163840_312d389c2f.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4284163840/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">Two Wheels</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">, originally uploaded by </span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/sulalala/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sulalala</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">.</span></span></div><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">The rain has returned. I love it. That is unless I'm driving through pools of it in heavy traffic. Today was a love day. I went to check out <a href="http://photola.com/">photo l.a.</a>, a 3-day photo exposition at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.<br /><br />The best thing about photography shows are the feelings they provoke. My appreciation continues to grow for film, and one day, I will be bold enough to try my hand at it again, especially since Melissa is thinking about installing a dark room in her house. There were some prints that blew my mind dating back almost 100 years. And then, there were the contemporary pieces where you think, how did they do that? My favorites are always ones that rely on good composition and capture a moment in time. Overall, it was just an inspiring show and made me want to keep shooting and reach further.<br /><br />As we left, the rain started to fall. It mainly just drizzled but left a nice coating on the ground as we took a stroll to the 3rd Street Promenade. Santa came back as stylish as ever, rockin' the matching bike tires to his jumper and sunglasses. Gotta love L.A.</span></p>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-57946336465906131232010-01-16T13:00:00.000-08:002010-02-11T13:25:57.098-08:0016 extreme close-up<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4280162586/" target="_blank"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4027/4280162586_2868157895.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4280162586/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">extreme close-up</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">, originally uploaded by </span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/sulalala/"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">sulalala</span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;">.</span></span></div><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">I was famished after my first soccer game with the </span><a href="http://laarsenal.weebly.com/" target="_blank"><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">LA Arsenal </span></a><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">and craving something Korean. It turned out she made it the fancy way (rice on the outside of the seaweed), so of course, I couldn't just eat it right away.<br /><br />I took these photos with a reverse-mounted 50mm lens, to showt he detail. I exited near the hotel, which is adjacent to the Staples Center, and drove past what has now become a bustling area. The parking was a minimum of 8 dollars near the center, but luckily, from the photographer's end of the spectrum, a front row seat is not what makes the best photo. So, I drove a few blocks and stumbled upon some street parking near the bridge at Wilshire Blvd.<br /><br />I just had my Slik Mini tripod which made for an interesting balancing game on the rail of the bridge. I wish I had brought another camera just to show my setup for taking these shots. This was my first real attempt at moving cars up close, so it took a little time to find the right setting/ exposure. I loved the way these came out, especially the green bridge. You can see the JW Marriott - Ritz Carlton in the background.</span></div>Sulalalahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11727204826099412745noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7360549946180815319.post-31253848278788656392010-01-12T20:30:00.000-08:002010-02-11T13:25:21.854-08:0012 Foaming at the Mouth<div style="PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; PADDING-TOP: 3px; TEXT-ALIGN: left"><a title="photo sharing" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4270643295/"><img style="BORDER-RIGHT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-TOP: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; BORDER-BOTTOM: #000000 2px solid" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4002/4270643295_c2f2bc4125.jpg" /></a><br /><span style="MARGIN-TOP: 0px"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/sulalala/4270643295/"><span style="font-size:85%;">Foaming at the Mouth</span></a><span style="font-size:85%;">, originally uploaded by </span><a href="http://www.flickr.com/people/sulalala/"><span style="font-size:85%;">sulalala</span></a><span style="font-size:85%;">.</span></span></div><p><span style="font-family:trebuchet ms;">Naps have seemed to resurface back into my daily life.
